INTRODUCTION
The Youth Development Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports plays an important role in supporting and empowering young people across Somalia. The Department recognizes that young people are one of Somalia’s greatest assets and that their energy, ideas, skills, and commitment are essential to building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous country.
The Department works to create opportunities for young people to develop their skills, find employment, start businesses, participate in community activities, and have their voices heard in decisions that affect their lives and their future. It also supports initiatives that promote leadership, innovation, civic engagement, volunteerism, peacebuilding, and social inclusion.
To achieve these goals, the Department works closely with youth organizations, government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, the private sector, and other stakeholders. Through these partnerships, it seeks to respond to the real needs and aspirations of Somali youth and ensure that young people have meaningful opportunities to contribute to national development.
To build an empowered, skilled, inclusive, and resilient generation of Somali youth who actively contribute to peace, sustainable development, and the prosperity of Somalia.
To empower and support Somali youth by creating opportunities for skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, leadership, civic participation, innovation, and meaningful engagement in national development.
